There'll be a handful of speeches and a personalized pub quiz about Utah, the UK, and us. Children welcome. The Proposal Weekend

Joe surprises Lauren with a semi-planned proposal in Copenhagen, and doesn't stop explaining how much he loves her until she grabs his head and says yes. During a Michelin starred celebratory meal Lauren steals some expensive Yuzu sake. Afterwards, Joe introduces her to Fisk and gets hot dogs from 7/11 on the way back to the hotel.

Dress Code

We're getting married in Derbyshire, in the UK. It's a part of the English countryside called the Peak District, though locals just call it 'Up north'. If you're coming from abroad, we recommend flying in to London and <a href="https://www.thetrainline.com/en-us" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">travelling to Derby by train</a>. The train takes 90 minutes, but we strongly discourage travelling on the day of the wedding in case of delays. <a href="https://www.uber.com/gb/en/?uclick_id=27cc27c6-0d48-4189-9ffc-6e1b42909923" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Uber</a> is available in the area, though you may prefer to rent a car if you're staying for a few days. We recommend <a href="https://citymapper.com/?lang=en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Citymapper</a> for planning UK travel. We have guests coming from a range of locations, so rather than book a block we've simply listed some recommended hotels below.

40 minutes from the venue,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.peakedgehotel.co.uk/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Peak Edge</a>&nbsp;is a 4-star hotel and pub nestled in the heart of Derbyshire and near the town of Chesterfield, where Joe grew up.

In the heart of Derby and just 15 minutes from the venue, the Leonardo Hotel chain has 3-4-star options with bed, breakfast, and a fitness centre.

THINGS TO DO IN DERBYSHIRE

Spending some time in the Derbyshire before or after the wedding? The area is known for it's countryside, charming British pubs, and the numerous and noisy Martin family — who have prepared the following recommendations...

Ever watched Downton Abbey? Then you'll love Chatsworth House. There's a huge number of beautiful hikes to explore, while the house itself offers cafes, shops, gardens, tours, and even an adventure playground.

Made famous by Robin Hood and home to the UK's oldest living tree, Sherwood Forest offers numerous trails and seasonal activities for all abilities.

Sherwood Forest 

Denby, in Ripley, is famous for its pottery. There's a shop full of kitchen gadgets, a cafe, tours, and potting experiences. Plus, a huge army surplus store nearby too!

Denby Pottery Village

A Derbyshire craft whisky, gin, and rum distillery offering tours, tastings, and booze galore. It's near the gorgeous Darley Dales too!

White Peak Distillery

This 10k circular walk is Joe's favourite hike from childhood and takes in some of the best sights in Derbyshire. His mum hates him climbing the rocks.

Curbar Edge Trail

Home of the Bakewell Pudding and where Joe and his siblings went to school. Includes several pubs, riverside walks, a fish and chip shop, and some nice cafes.

The closest thing the Peak District has to a metropolis, Sheffield is famous for its steel, but also boasts a lively music and theatre scene.

Things To Do In London

Spending some time in London during the trip? There's no shortage of things to do, but below are some of Joe &amp; Lauren's favourites. We strongly recommend using <a href="https://citymapper.com/?lang=en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Citymapper</a> to find your way around London too.

If you're coming from the US, Lauren says a Sunday roast is a must. We recommend <a href="https://thepigandbutcher.co.uk/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Pig &amp; Butcher</a>, or <a href="https://smokehouseislington.co.uk/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Smokehouse</a>. Also, <a href="https://www.windmillmayfair.co.uk/food-drink/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Windmill</a> for pies. Joe also recommends <a href="https://stjohnrestaurant.com/a/restaurants/bread-and-wine" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">St John Bread &amp; Wine</a> for nose-to-tail dining.

For pubs, try <a href="https://www.greeneking.co.uk/pubs/greater-london/george-southwark" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The George</a>, <a href="https://www.the-albion.co.uk/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Albion</a>, or the <a href="https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186338-d23938423-Reviews-The_Holy_Tavern-London_England.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Holy Tavern</a> if you want a really old boozer. Locals drink cask ale, which is a flat, warm beer.

<a href="https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/whats-on" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Theatre tickets</a> in the UK are much cheaper than the US, and <a href="https://princecharlescinema.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Prince Charles Cinema</a> is a highlight for film buffs. <a href="https://www.libertylondon.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Liberty</a> and <a href="https://www.fortnumandmason.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Fortnum &amp; Mason</a> are great for shopping, and most museums, including the <a href="https://www.vam.ac.uk/whatson" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">V&amp;A</a> and <a href="https://www.tate.org.uk/visit/tate-modern" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Tate</a> are free.

Something to see
